Chapter 228 What Nightmare Have I Walked Into

He shrugged as he led her to a nearby log, casually explaining, "We had a disagreement and decided to give each other some space."

As the duo sat down, a pack of giant Shadow Cats suddenly rushed past them, their powerful strides shaking the ground. Artemis\'s eyes widened in shock. "Where did you get all these creatures from?" she asked, astonished by the sight.

Atlas chuckled at her reaction before explaining, \'\'We were stuck in the Chaos Realm for four years, and over that time, I collected thousands of monsters with Nulia and Atek\'s help. They don\'t come near me, but some have started to.\'\'

Once he finished speaking, a group of giant fox-looking monsters known as Firetails wandered nearby. With a grin, Atlas turned to the brunette and said, \'\'Watch this.\'\'

After that, he stood up and approached the family, calling them, \'\'Do you want some food?\'\'

He pulled out some cooked monster meat and tossed it to the ground. The Firetail family hesitated, creeping forward. But a deep bellow from Cera, echoing from behind them, seemed to reassure the creatures.

With newfound confidence, they approached him as if sensing they were safe in his presence. Artemis watched, her eyes wide with fascination. Atlas stroked them gently as the creatures neared, their fur soft beneath his hands.

\'\'I\'m creating a secret army,\'\' he explained calmly, glancing at her. \'\'I\'ll let the creatures here grow strong; when the time comes, they\'ll be ready.\'\'

Continue your adventure with empire

The brunette was shocked but giggled before responding, \'\'Well, you have certainly changed since the first time we met.\'\'

Atlas chuckled while raising his stump, \'\'Yes, I\'ve changed,\'\' he said with a smirk.

Artemis looked guilty, but soon enough, Cera appeared and spoke amusedly, \'\'She is pretty, Master. Is she your lover?\'\'

\'\'No,\'\' he answered. \'\'She\'s in my adventurer party. Her name is Artemis, and I\'m sure you\'ll see her throughout the jungle.

The Scalebreaker Matriarch nodded, \'We will make sure she\'s safe.\'

Cera turned to Artemis, who was shocked, but the creature nudged the brunette. This caused her to smile as she stroked the Scalebreaker, \'\'Is this the leader, Azhar\'Zul?\'\'

\'\'Yes, she was one of the first creatures that moved to the Otherworld,\'\' Atlas answered. \'\'Do you want to see more?\'\'

Artemis smiled as she asked in a curious tone, \'\'Do you have any water? I fancy a swim.\'\'

He nodded, taking her soft hand and leading her through the jungle until they arrived at the serene lake Atlas had created some time ago. The clear water sparkled in the sunlight, and when Artemis saw it, a broad smile spread across her face before she quickly dived in.

\'\'Join me Azhar\'Zul!\'\' she exclaimed while vanishing.

Atlas chuckled, activating Aqua Lung with a grin before following her into the lake. He sank effortlessly to the bottom, marveling as he watched the brunette gracefully slicing through the water, her movements smooth.

The underwater world around them was breathtaking—a vast, submerged forest of tall, swaying plants reaching up like trees. Rays of moonlight pierced through the water\'s surface, casting shimmering beams across the vibrant marine life.

Schools of colorful fish darted between the branches, which amazed Atlas. He started walking toward the brunette, but she darted away and vanished into the underbrush before she appeared behind him.

Artemis wrapped her arms around his shoulders, a smile lighting up her face. "I\'m glad you could join me down here," she said softly.

The brunette grabbed his hand and shot off, catching Atlas off guard as she zoomed around the lake before leaping out of the water. She landed on two feet as he flopped like a fish before lying there looking at the starry sky.

\'\'Next time, let me know when you do that,\'\' he said, sitting up and dismissing his helmet.

His hair was wet and all over the place, causing Artemis to giggle. \'\'I will, but that lake is amazing. There are some monsters under there, but they\'re hiding.\'\'

Then, Atlas climbed to his feet, and the two headed back to the treehouse. As the duo trekked through the jungle, the brunette commented, \'\'Those Scalebreaker babies loved you. Do they always try to ambush you?\'\'

\'\'Yes, every batch of younglings have messed with me,\'\' Atlas answered with a smile. \'\'Thanks to their older siblings encouraging the silliness.\'\'

Artemis giggled as they made it back to the treehouse. When they entered, Grishna teased Estelle, \'\'Blonde Princess! When will the food be ready?\'\'

\'\'Shut up bitch! You could help me if you\'re that hungry,\'\' Estelle quickly retorted while cooking some meat.

As the enticing aroma wafted through the air, Atlas\'s stomach grumbled in response, but he knew the food wasn\'t ready yet. He slumped into a nearby chair, contemplating whether to try Level Four of the Void Realm.

Just as he was about to activate it, Amethyst chimed in with a cheerful voice, \'\'Azhar\'Zul, when we get back to Astoria, can I tame some birds to bring into the Otherworld?\'\'

\'\'Of course, you can; there\'s more than enough room here,\'\' he answered with a smile.

The phoenix girl and Nulia started speaking while Artemis was resting in front of the fire with her eyes closed. Atlas got comfortable and activated Void Realm, only to appear in a ruined temple.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

He glanced around the hall and noticed everything was in disarray—furniture was smashed, and bloodstains marred the once-pristine floors. The chaotic scene sent a chill down his spine.

\'What nightmare have I walked into now?\' Atlas pondered while taking out his blades.

Following that, he walked toward the entrance only to smell smoke and blood that hung in the air. When Atlas appeared outside, he saw a destroyed city that stretched out in all directions.

As he entered the city, the atmosphere felt heavy and charged, an unsettling silence enveloping the streets. Atlas\'s senses heightened when seeing the eerie surroundings, noticing the flickering lights that cast long shadows.

Suddenly, a horrifying howl pierced the air, echoing off the walls. The sound sent shivers down his spine, and instinctively, he tightened his grip on his weapon, readying himself for whatever nightmare lurked just out of sight.

Atlas gulped before cautiously advancing through the dark street; a flicker of movement caught his eye. He turned to see a group of humanoids shuffling toward him, their forms shadowy and indistinct in the twilight.

At first, he was confused and didn\'t know what or who they were until he used Void Sight on the newcomers.

[Void Ghoul]

[Rank: D]

\'Oh shit,\' Atlas thought. \'This shouldn\'t be too hard.\'

That\'s when he took a closer look at their gaunt faces, which were twisted in grotesque expressions. Their skin had a sickly pallor that gleamed under the dim light. He quickly noticed the creatures\' sharp claws and shark-like teeth.

Atlas\'s heart raced as he stepped back, assessing their menacing approach. The Ghouls\' hollow eyes locked onto him with ravenous hunger, and a guttural growl escaped their lips. He could feel the weight of dread settling over him as he prepared to fight against the nightmarish creatures.

\'I should be able to clear this level quickly,\' Atlas thought before sending several Void Lances at the Ghouls.

The azure projectiles streaked through the air, illuminating the surroundings with a brilliant glow as they sliced through the night. The spells struck their targets in a heartbeat, exploding with violent force.

Atlas watched as the magic tore the creatures apart, scattering limbs and body parts in all directions and splattering the ground with blood. The sheer power of the attack left the air charged and filled with the aftermath of destruction.

Following that attack, he dashed forward and cast Void Infusion on his blades. When reaching the first Void Ghoul, he cut straight through its torso before ducking under a swipe of another.

\'That was close,\' he thought while casting Void Wave.

The sudden attack sent the Ghouls flying, allowing him to kill the remaining creatures. Once Atlas was done, he pulled up the monster total for the fourth level.

After checking, Atlas continued through the city, trying to find any clues as to where the boss was. During his journey, the Void Ghouls continued ambushing him, but thanks to the constant fighting, he grew used to them.

Void Infusion and his speed allowed him to cut through the first wave of creatures. But the tide shifted as more poured in, surrounding him from every angle. Their sheer numbers became overwhelming, and danger crept closer with each second.

Atlas pressed on, his body growing weary with each swing, but his resolve remained firm. He knew this was when things would get complicated. The once relentless monsters had fallen silent, leaving only the eerie quiet of the empty streets.

As he made his way through the city, no more creatures dared attack, but the ominous atmosphere lingered. After ten tense minutes, he arrived at an open square.
