Chapter 936 A contradictory wish
They were not the same as the normal human beings and they were not even like what they had known until now.
Perhaps these people, the higher ups at least, were from a completely different realm or world.
It was also a possibility that the one that was actually after all of this was also someone who had lived more than their age– not that they knew how old that being was or if there even was a certain individual that handled the role of the cult leader or if it was just a position that was passed down from one successor to the other.
They did not know their enemy yet even though they had this significant amount of data on their grunts.
The actual cult that made the humans and other beings into the cultits was not an enemy they had been able to pinpoint yet, so confrontation was a long way away.
Still, they all knew those people wanted to destroy the world. Turning the world into a mash of darkness or a house for demonic and dark species was not their ultimate goal.
They did not follow a certain faction. They were evil in nature, but they were following an ideology, not an individual or a central power.
That was what made them so powerful and dangerous in the first place.
They had knowledge, and unfathomable foresight.
"Miss! Do you seriously mean they wanted to be found out?!"
"Does that mean they already knew they would get caught or defeated and still did it?"
"Miss! Can you elaborate on this!"
"Why would they do it?! Isn\'t this what they wanted in the first place?!"
For them, the powers of the world that were seeing their home being reduced to nothing more than a mash of evil where impure darkness resided, this was absurd.
{ "It simply means this is not the outcome they desire." }
The demonic cultists… they had a contradictory wish.
On one hand, they wanted to destroy the world in its entirety. They were not after chaos like the Rakshasas, they were not after eradication like the angels, they were not after domination like the tyrants, and they were not after preservation of a certain thing like many of the higher beings wished.
They wanted pure destruction where nothing is left. Not even a world where they could build something of their own.
They did not know who the mastermind behind this cult was, but whoever they might be, they did not want this world of impure darkness either.
Their presence was causing it and they knew if things go like they are right now, the world would be destroyed on its own in a way they did not want it to.
{ "If what we are seeing right now happens, their preparations of decades, perhaps centuries would mean nothing." }
Destruction did not mean turning of a thing from one state to the other. It meant the eradication of an element to its primordial state.
Not all of the people there understood it right now, but this also indicated that the mortal society on this single planet was not their end goal.
They were, in fact, after everything.
At least, that was their wish and they were going to start from the most basic unit, this planet.
{ "We did not understand it either, perhaps we are wrong, but from what we derived from this…" }
"They are giving us a chance to fight back?" A voice from the back gasped.
"No, they want us to save the world…" And a voice in the front corrected them.
Still, that was not all.
"Those cultists… we are the final piece in their equation." As this voice, as the headmaster said, this was all part of a grand plan.
{ "Yes…" }
They revealed their presence in Lakmer as well as a few other places, however, the kind of response they received in Lakmer was a little too overwhelming.
It served its purpose but then it made any further stimulation meaningless.
"They intentionally revealed their presence."
The demonic cult might not have predicted everything, but they most certainly predicted the natural human response they all would have against an incident as grand as the Lakmer\'s.
Now, in the situation they succeeded in destroying a great chunk of Lakmer and even harm some of the world representatives that were gathered in the city at the time of the competition, they would impact the world as demonic humans or Rakshasas since their original existence must not be made public for the image of the national representatives gathered there.
There would be a great conflict with Rakshasas and after many arguments, perhaps a battle, a grand conference would be organised to deal with it.
In the situation where they failed completely like what happened this time, everyone would gather together to discuss what happened and somehow reveal the existence of their cult, like what is happening.
In a different scenario where something else happens, the attacks in other places would connect to them and would lead to this conference.
{ "They know they are leading the world to a decaying mess. But what if everyone were to find them out and openly or covertly deal with them?" }
There were too many of them, and while on one end it was needed, they did not want it.
It was only because of the incompetence of human mortality that they could not use them as a better weapon.
That\'s why they used the more useful people, human leaders who actually hold power in this world to trim away the unnecessary baggage that was ultimately created by their own evil hands.
{ "By doing that, they would walk a step closer to their actual goal." }
-Ooooooooong.
The image of the dark world that we were seeing until now changed once again and shifted to a world that was lit ablaze.
{ "Constant war aimed at one another, depletion of resources, high casualties all around the world, presence of demons and forces that will appear to destroy these demons, presence of divinities on the physical world, deaths of the divine beasts under the blade of these wars… and ultimately… Nihility." }
That is their goal.
And to achieve that goal, they even added the rest of them into an elaborate equation which ultimately leads to what they were seeing right now.
"..." Even individuals like their family members and their mentors were speechless.
"Shit." Even the headmaster who knew most of the contents of this presentation could not help but curse out loud.
"This is bad…"
And even the Sword Saint who was not present here knew very well just how complicated of a net all of them were stuck in right now.
{ "If we do anything recklessly, even if we just hinder something more than a certain degree, it could spark a blaze that connects to what you see right now." }
A burning celestial mass that used to be a planet full of life… that would be the last thing left of the planet before it all exhausts as well and a dead celestial body is left floating in the space– which is bad as well since it would result in the destruction of the entire solar system.
This planet held a very special position in the world… and those who knew the actual meaning of it, were the only ones who understood the gravity of the situation.
{ "Wanting to confront the individuals close to you that were listed as ones connected with those cultists is not wrong. It is exactly what THEY want us to do… but, to not bring the world to this state, to stop this nullification from happening, we must bear the burden of knowing all of this together." }
She bowed to them as she concluded her part with that last statement and though still nervous, as well as a little enraged, she left the stage to her darling.
{ "So…" }
This was the second part of the fifth section of the presentation.
It was time for him to tell them what his suggestions were.
And unlike a while back where they were going to jump at him for saying all the nonsense and calling their close companions evil cultists, they knew what they had just become part of.
Confusion and rage was now a common emotion present in the masses gathered here.
The rulers were anxious, the Rakshasas were angry about this whole thing, the people from the temple were glaring at him on the stage seriously.
The headmaster was looking at him with concern as well, so he knew how important this certain section was going to be.
{ "Shall we start?" }
The whole situation had suddenly become many times more complicated than it was just until the last section of his presentation.
Until they brought up the question of \'why\' they all were fine with either accepting or denying the facts that were presented before them.
However, after knowing the probable intentions of those bastards that might or might not be over interpreted by them, denying what they had seen, heard, and understood until now was not an option.
{ "Firstly, I would like to ask something to Saint Alexander." }
Everything until now was just a build up for the moments that will follow after this.
The revelation of the hidden cultists in the world was not the end or the most important part of the conference…
"I\'m listening, Master Axion."
He referred to him as a \'master\'. An honour not even some of the grandmasters present here had received till the date.
"..."
"..."
"..."
Many of them were speechless right now. But, this did not matter at the moment.
What was going on, this presentation was evrything right now. All the chaos of the current time aside, this moment right now was the most important for every single one of them present…
They were the ones who would prevent this world from burning away.
This was their responsibility…
They had no choice but to bear it and accept it from this point forward.
