Chapter 301: 282, Fighting_1
Before entering the theater, Daohua had supported the idea of using a beauty trap to test Feng Liangji’s loyalty, but after witnessing the reaction of the men in the hall to the singing girl on stage, she hesitated.
How many men can withstand temptation?
Although her intentions were good, if she really ended up spoiling the marriage her second uncle had personally chosen, would her second uncle and aunt be happy?
Would Sister Zixuan’s choice next time definitely be better than Feng Liangji?
Dong Yuanyao saw Daohua’s hesitation and didn’t say more, silently drinking her tea.
Behind them, the four servants including Wang Manman all breathed a sigh of relief as their young mistress calmed down.
During Daohua’s moment of indecision, the song performance on stage came to an end.
After finishing her song, the singing girl went down to thank the audience for their appreciation. Everything was normal in the hall, but when she reached a second-floor private room, chaos erupted.
The commotion was happening in the very room where Feng Liangji and his group were seated.
Quick-witted Hong Fang and Wang Manman immediately ran upstairs to find out what was happening.
Soon they returned downstairs, laughing.
“That singing girl was harassed, and in her panic, she ran into Master Feng’s private room. Now she’s begging them to save her!” Wang Manman rapidly relayed the events from upstairs.
Daohua anxiously asked, “What was Feng Liangji’s reaction?”
Hong Fang: “I caught a glimpse, and Master Feng’s face didn’t look very happy, he seemed quite impatient with the singing girl.”
Hearing this, Daohua let out a sigh of relief.
It was a relief that he didn’t immediately wish to shelter every pretty girl he saw under his wing.
“It seems Feng Liangji is quite sensible, not rashly taking action.”
Just then, with a ‘bang’, a figure flew down from the second floor, crashing directly into a table in the hall.
Daohua glanced over and it appeared to be someone from Feng Liangji’s room who had done it.
“Scram!”
A voice that betrayed no emotions came down from the second floor, and shortly after, everyone saw a brocade-clad young man dragging the singing girl downstairs.
“Let me go!”
“Help!”
The singing girl struggled incessantly, and seeing the surrounding people looking at him with amusement, the young man’s expression turned to anger, and with a backhand slap, he knocked the girl to the ground.
Conveniently, the singing girl landed right in front of Daohua and Dong Yuanyao.
Daohua quietly asked Dong Yuanyao, “Didn’t you say these girls are all opportunistic? The one grabbing her seems to have some family wealth, so why doesn’t she want to go with him?”
Dong Yuanyao: “You only know one side of the story. I know the guy who’s grabbing her, he is the legitimate son of Consultant Du, Du Jitong, rumored to have tortured several concubines to death. With such a man, who would dare to commit?”
As Du Jitong’s men approached again, the singing girl was on the verge of despair. In a split second, she spotted Daohua and Dong Yuanyao not far away.
She was a woman and instantly recognized that the two were women in disguise.
Knowing the compassion of a young lady, without a second thought, she rushed towards them: “Young masters, save me!”
Startled by her charge, Daohua and Dong Yuanyao quickly dodged to the sides, and the singing girl missed her mark, sprawling on the ground.
Neither Daohua nor Dong Yuanyao had ever intended to meddle in the affairs of others.
This singing girl did not seem to be a quiet sort. If she had left properly after singing, none of this trouble would have occurred.
Even though neither had any intention of intervening, the singing girl’s cry drew everyone’s attention in the theater to them.
“Hey, what pretty young brothers!”
“Could it be that Nanfeng Pavilion has new recruits across the way?”
Seeing that the focus of the crowd had shifted to them, both Daohua and Dong Yuanyao’s expressions soured significantly.
Daohua quickly pulled on Dong Yuanyao: “Let’s go.”
However, they had only taken a few steps before being blocked by Du Jitong.
Facing Du Jitong’s creepy gaze, Dong Yuanyao was furious: “Get out of the way!”
Unperturbed, Du Jitong even chuckled, “Where are you two young brothers from? I seem not to have seen you before?” As he spoke, he reached out towards Dong Yuanyao’s cheek.
Seeing the unwelcome paw approaching, Daohua’s gaze darkened. She whipped out her belt and with a ‘snap’, struck at the offending hand.
“Ahh~”
A cry of agony rose.
Before Du Jitong could instruct his men to seize them after being hit by Daohua’s whip, Dong Yuanyao’s leg lashed out, kicking him several meters away: “You cur, are you blind? To dare harass your own master Du.”
Everything happened so quickly that the people around didn’t have time to react.
After all, Du Jitong was the son of Consultant Du, and he was a government official of the fourth rank, not someone you could just hit at will. Yet these two girls had the audacity to strike without a word.
From the private room on the second floor, Sun Yongyi swallowed hard and said sympathetically to Feng Liangji, “Liangji, you’ve provoked two such hot-tempered girls, you’re in trouble!”
Feng Liangji said irritably, “I’ve said it before, I don’t know them.”
Sun Yongyi snorted in disbelief, “You don’t know them, then why are they tailing you, even following you to the theater?”
At that, Feng Liangji was also at a loss, but he had no time to think further as the fight had already broken out downstairs.
After being helped up by his servants, Du Jitong roared, “Grab those two curs for me!”
Du Jitong had only brought two lackeys with him, but there were other young masters and servants accompanying him. Instantly, more than ten lackeys rolled up their sleeves and rushed towards Daohua and Dong Yuanyao.
“Stop!”
Seeing so many people attacking Daohua and Dong Yuanyao, Hong Fang, Hong Yu, and Wang Manman were extremely anxious. All three had practiced martial arts with their ladies and had some skills. They picked up chairs and rushed into the fray.
Even Guyu, who wasn’t skilled in martial arts at all, quickly grabbed the utensils from the table and started throwing them at the attackers.
“Smack, smack, smack!”
Unintimidated by the approaching crowd, Daohua skillfully wielded her whip, lashing out fiercely at her opponents.
Dong Yuanyao had not brought her sword, so after looking around, she grabbed a broom from the hall and used it as a weapon.
Seeing the young girls exhibiting quite impressive skills, the people inside the theater were taken aback.
Still, they were at a disadvantage.
There was no helping it, Du Jitong’s side had nearly twice as many people.
Soon, it became evident that Daohua and her companions were struggling to cope.
Daohua glanced at Du Jitong’s people and, knowing they were outnumbered, quickly flicked her whip, wreaking havoc on the nearby tables and chairs with all her might.
She knew that places like the theater had backers, and if the theater’s people intervened, they would have a chance to escape. Once out of the theater, if Du Jitong dared to pursue, she would make him suffer the effects of her Itching Pill.
There were many people on the street, which would make it easier for them to slip away.
From the private room on the second floor, Feng Hao watched Daohua’s chaotic destruction in the hall and a hint of amusement danced in his eyes, a wry smile playing on his lips, “Quite the clever move.”
As expected, it wasn’t long before the theater’s enforcers showed up.
“Who is causing trouble here?”
Seeing the theater’s butler leading people out, Du Jitong’s group stopped their assault.
Daohua and Dong Yuanyao also immediately ceased fighting and regrouped with Wang Manman and the others.
The theater’s butler had a grim expression as he surveyed the chaos in the hall before turning to Du Jitong with a cold stare, “Young Master Du, you’ve gone too far this time.”
Du Jitong, furious, pointed at Daohua and the others, “They were the ones who started this.”
Daohua snorted coldly, “We only fought back because someone was spewing nonsense here. If we didn’t show him what’s what, he’d think he was a crab that could walk sideways through the streets.”
At this, the theater crowd burst into laughter.
Seeing the theater’s butler looking over, Daohua spoke up without waiting for him to say anything, “We’ll compensate for the damaged tables and chairs.” She quickly reached for her purse.
Dong Yuanyao immediately stopped her, whispering, “What are you doing? If anyone is going to pay compensation, it should be Du Jitong’s side.”
Daohua leaned in and whispered so only the two of them could hear, “We don’t want to make a big scene. You wouldn’t want the whole of the provincial government talking about the daughters from the Provincial Governor’s and the Prefectural Governor’s households brawling and visiting the theater, would you?”
Dong Yuanyao fell silent, then snatched the purse from Daohua’s hand and threw it to the butler.
Daohua immediately grew anxious, “What are you doing? There are a thousand silver taels in that purse!”
Dong Yuanyao quickly looked to the butler, hoping to reclaim it, but the butler had already happily pocketed the purse. Dong Yuanyao could only apologetically look at Daohua, “Why are you carrying so much silver on you?”
Daohua was extremely frustrated, “That was for buying a gift for Sister Zixuan.”
Since the silver was already handed over, there was no getting it back. Although Daohua felt the pinch, she didn’t forget their current predicament and looked towards the theater’s butler, “Can we leave now?”
The theater’s butler smiled and made a gesture indicating they were free to go.
As soon as Daohua and her group left the theater, Du Jitong was ready to give chase, but the theater’s butler stopped him.
Knowing what he wanted, Du Jitong flung a silver note his way and went after Daohua and the others.
“Stop right there!”
Du Jitong led his men out of the theater, and seeing that Daohua and her group were still near the entrance, his spirits rose. He stretched out his hand to grab them.
But before he could touch anyone, a figure rushed over and kicked Du Jitong back into the theater with such force that even the theater’s doors were knocked down.
