Chapter 44: 41. Witch Rank 2
After the rank of weak witch comes the normal adult witch, whose Magic Power has developed and matured and who has graduated from Witch Academy, achieving a normal level of knowledge and magic; they are no more than ordinary people within witch society.
The next rank up are the elite witches who have moved beyond the ordinary. These witches, having spent many years in their fields, have climbed the social ladder, strengthened their skills in various aspects, and started to make a name for themselves in their areas of expertise. They are the backbone of major companies or territories.
The rank of Great Witch, put simply, is comprised of experts in various fields. They have achieved a certain level of accomplishment in their areas of expertise and are recognized across various societal sectors. These witches often are the top leaders in major companies or simply lords themselves.
Following the Great Witch rank are the Peak Witches, as the name suggests. They are at the pinnacle of their respective fields, the ’great’ among Great Witches, absolute authorities in various industries. They are well known to novices trying to enter the field, and are often featured in textbooks; their presences are frequently seen on television and in newspapers.
Peak witches often hold higher positions, their influence not limited to just a single company or territory. They tend to become senior directors of various departments under the Council of Sages, executing decisions set by the sages and managing the operations of the entire Witch World.
As for the highest rank of Sages, there’s not much to say—those big shots decide how the world turns.
However, it’s worth mentioning that even though the Council of Thirteen Sages only has thirteen seats, it doesn’t mean there are only thirteen sages. In fact, there are quite a few sages in the Witch World, as these beings closest to the concept of Omniscience and Omnipotence have long become immortal.
Yet not all sages are willing to manage the world; it’s too troublesome and distracts from their paths to godhood.
Therefore, besides the Witch King, who is the Chief Sage, the other twelve are generally the youngest sages. Whenever a new sage is born, the older sages cheerfully step down and enthusiastically retire to their research.
The ranks of witches are just about that, really just an identity proof, a representation of the witch’s overall strength.
The determination of ranks is generally delegated to the All-Seeing Eye, a subsidiary organ of the Council of Sages. The identity cards, one in each witch’s hand, are also issued by this department.
The All-Seeing Eye acts as the sages’ sight, watching over the world on their behalf.
The identity card constantly authenticates and updates the witches’ various information, which is transmitted through the Magic Network to the database at the headquarters of the All-Seeing Eye, calculating all of witches’ information including strength, talent, achievements, wealth, etc., into corresponding points, and the final sum of these points is the score determining the witches’ rank.
The rank of a witch is determined based on this comprehensive score.
In a way, the All-Seeing Eye is secretly monitoring all witches, which does trespass a bit on privacy, but infringement is just that. In a world where personal power is supreme, do you really expect more?
If you don’t agree, you’ll just have to deal with it.
Moreover, not just anyone has access to the information stored by the All-Seeing Eye; it is one of the most securely guarded places in the Witch World. Employees working there processing information lose their memories daily after work, and that’s not all—it’s rather brutal, but they also carry Sealing Spells on them.
Even department managers don’t have the right to access the database. Technically, if someone wants to specifically investigate a witch’s personal information, they need permission from at least six sages.
Well, that pretty much means you need to convene a meeting of the Council of Sages and persuade at least half of them in the meeting room.
Or more directly, if you can get on the good side of the Chief Sage, after all, the Chief Sage, as the Witch King, has unlimited authority.
Yet, these matters have nothing to do with Dorothy, a distinctly average little witch; she’s light-years away from reaching the world of these influential figures.
She just pulled out her identity card, glanced at her rank, and sighed.
"Just an elite witch, huh."
The advancement in witch ranks is quite challenging, after all, it’s a reflection of a witch’s comprehensive strength.
The three most commonly recognized fastest ways to advance ranks are:
The first is to enhance one’s concrete strength, whether it be Body Attribute or Magic Power intensity, these improvements can boost a witch’s rank points.
The second is through evolution; talent and specialty still score highly, with rarer talents and specialties earning more points.
As for the final method, well, earn achievements.
Whether through academic tests, competition rankings, or battle merits on the battlefield, all achievements earned by a witch are awarded rank points based on their Level.
