Chapter 232: Defeat the Final Raid Boss II
\'Incalculable... has this ever appeared before?\' Strax murmured.
He calmly observed the monster before him.
The spider\'s long, sharp legs dragged across the ground, and its eyes glowed with a malevolent glimmer. Samira, holding her flaming sword, cast a determined look at her companions. "We\'re ready, right? We can\'t let this thing defeat us."
"Absolutely," replied Yennifer, also gripping her dagger, ready to strike. Beatrice, nervous but resolute, nodded affirmatively, while Cristine adjusted her stance, focusing on the dagger she held tightly.
"Let\'s go," Strax said, his voice firm. "Exterminate this demon."
\'Ouroboros and Tiamat... if things get bad, leave me behind and use your spiritual bodies to help the girls.\' He commented, knowing he wouldn\'t get a response, as he already knew they wouldn\'t agree but would do it anyway.
Wielding both swords, he bathed them in flames and rushed toward the Demon Spider.
Not just him, but all the women did the same, a synchronized and precise attack. With swords in hand, he unleashed a fiery slash and a stream of fire engulfed the spider in a strange sea of flames.
The creature clearly reacted as expected, letting out a scream that reverberated throughout the cave, shaking the ground, but it quickly recovered, moving its legs swiftly, as if the fire had no effect on it.
Rapidly, the women attacked its center of gravity—its legs. However, the swords at least pierced its shell...
"No! This can\'t be happening!" Strax exclaimed, watching the Demon Spider dodge the flames.
Samira stepped back, concentrating a large amount of mana into her sword, igniting it completely, turning it red.
Samira charged forward with all her fury, successfully severing one of the spider\'s legs!
But the creature, now furious, struck with one of its legs, hitting Samira and sending her reeling backward.
"Focus on the legs!" shouted Cristine, casting a spell that tried to bind the creature. The magic formed a net of energy, but the Demon Spider easily broke through the chains, tossing the magical particles aside as if they were mere threads.
Smaller spiders began to emerge, scuttling toward the group. Though weak, they were numerous. "Defend yourselves!" shouted Beatrice, preparing to cast a spell, but the spiders began to surround them.
Yennifer cut one down, but several more attacked her simultaneously, forcing her to retreat. "They\'re everywhere!" she cried, her fear evident.
The Demon Spider roared, a deep, resounding sound that echoed through the cave walls. Strax didn\'t hesitate and unleashed another wave of fire, but to his horror, the creature simply ignored the flames. With a quick movement, it attacked, its enormous jaws opening for a lethal strike.
"Strax, watch out!" Samira shouted. He quickly leaped away from the impending attack. The spider\'s strike hit the ground, creating a fissure. Fragments of rock and dust flew through the air.
"We need a plan!" Strax shouted, panting. "The fire isn\'t working!"
Cristine, trying to stay calm, said, "We need to focus on the smaller spiders and divert its attention!"
The weaker spiders attacked in waves, but they were more than just a nuisance. Strax tried to move and cut a few down, but each time one spider was eliminated, others appeared in increasing numbers. The group was slowly being surrounded, and despair began to creep into their minds.
The battle intensified, and the smaller spiders started to resist fire attacks. Strax\'s heart began to race. "This can\'t be happening!" he yelled as a smaller spider managed to evade the flames and attacked his arm. He screamed in pain, watching blood trickle down.
"Go! Keep fighting!" Samira urged, though her words were a futile attempt to mask the despair that was beginning to take hold.
The spiders were growing increasingly aggressive, and one, much larger than the others, seemed to be becoming immune to fire. It lunged at Beatrice, biting her arm and causing her to let out an agonizing scream. "Beatrice!" Strax shouted, but there was no time to hesitate.
"I can\'t do it!" Beatrice cried, clutching her wounded arm. "She\'s too strong!"
Strax\'s attacks were becoming more frantic. He unleashed flames in all directions, but the spiders moved with a supernatural agility, defying logic. One of them, with a sinister glow in its eyes, appeared to be feeding off his energy.
"Stop! It can\'t just end like this!" Yennifer shouted, struggling against the spiders that surrounded her. "Someone, help her!"
The atmosphere of despair intensified. The Demon Spider watched them with a smug expression, as if it were enjoying the spectacle. "We\'re losing," Strax said, his voice low but heavy with frustration. "We can\'t keep this up."
A wave of panic swept through the group. The spiders were closing in more and more, and Strax realized they couldn\'t just fight.
\'It\'s not going to work...\' he murmured to himself...
"We can\'t give up!" Samira exclaimed, looking into Strax\'s eyes. "We need to stick together! If we form a line, we can hold them off!"
"But how?" Monica asked, her voice trembling. "They\'re everywhere!"
"Let\'s fight side by side," Strax suggested, knowing it was a risky tactic. "If we can unite, we might hold out until someone finds a way out."
Cristine, still recovering, nodded. "We need to hold off the smaller spiders. If they don\'t surround us, we\'ll have a chance."
"Right!" Samira shouted. "Everyone together! Attack in unison!"
The group formed a line, fighting as one. Strax unleashed flames, while Cristine conjured her magic to bind the spiders. Samira charged in headfirst, and Yennifer slashed at those trying to get close.
But the Demon Spider, furious at their resistance, lunged forward. Its legs sliced through the air, and its fury was affecting them. "Hold firm!" Strax shouted, but the creature\'s strength was overwhelming.
One of the spider\'s legs struck Strax, sending him crashing across the cave. He got up, feeling the pain pulsing through his body. "Fuck you!" he yelled, as the smaller spiders began to close in again.
The group struggled to maintain their line, but the Demon Spider\'s attacks were becoming fiercer. Strax\'s flames were nearly useless now, and the smaller spiders attacked in swarms, engulfing them in a tide of legs and teeth.
\'These flames... why aren\'t they working? They\'re hellfire! What the hell is going on here?\' he screamed internally...
\'Oh... don\'t tell me... hellfire doesn\'t work on demons?\' he thought, glancing at the Spider...
"Hey, you idiots! You can\'t fight here!" Suddenly, a strong female voice rang out, as a beam of light cut through the swarm of spiders. Veronica appeared, slicing through thousands of them.
"We were worried! You didn\'t come back! And then everything started shaking!" A ray of light surged, opening several paths through the spider army. "I still have a lot to do, you know?! I haven\'t even finished creating my new guild!" Rogue shouted.
"Hey! Come help over here, damn it!" Beatrice shouted, clutching her injured shoulder.
"Let\'s take this thing outside!" Rogue yelled, her voice cutting through the noise of the battle. "If we can\'t defeat it here, maybe we can find a better place!"
Strax felt a flicker of hope ignite in his chest. "Okay! Let\'s retreat and form a defensive line!" He gestured to the women around him. "Draw its attention while we move!"
"Focus on the bigger spider!" Rogue exclaimed, her claws already stained with spider blood. "If we can take her down, the smaller ones will lose their motivation!"
\'I\'ll have to use that...\' Strax murmured. "Assimilation," he declared, feeling his body grow even stronger.
"I\'m going to have to destroy everything; there\'s no way to run into the tunnels..." he murmured, "so be it..."
He got into an attack position, channeling all his strength. "Skybreaker!" he shouted, unleashing a blow so powerful with his sword that it opened a hole in the cave ceiling up to the surface.
The impact reverberated through the cave, and Strax\'s magic energy pulsed intensely as he struck. The sound of breaking rocks echoed like thunder, and the Demon Spider hesitated, its malevolent eyes fixating on the new threat emerging from the opening in the ceiling.
"That\'s it!" Rogue yelled, sensing the shift in the battle\'s dynamics. "Keep it up! This will distract her!"
Strax felt the power of Assimilation flow through his body, intensifying his strength and agility. He knew that the strike he had delivered not only created an escape route but also provoked the wrath of the Spider, which could be turned to their advantage. Dust and rock fragments fell around him, creating a chaotic scene that favored their actions.
"Now!" Samira shouted, her gaze determined. She lunged toward the larger spider, her flames glowing brightly. "Take advantage of the confusion!"
With the Demon Spider momentarily disoriented, the other warriors joined her, each using their abilities to encircle the creature. Veronica conjured a field of energy around the Spider, while Rogue, with her bloodied claws, moved in for the attack.
"We can\'t let her escape!" Strax shouted, advancing with both swords drawn.
They all struck true against the spider... But...
The Demon Spider, even wounded and surrounded, seemed unyielding. It let out a scream so loud that it slammed them all against the wall, embedding them into the stones...
