Chapter 656 - Robbery
Chapter 656: Robbery
Ling Chuxi originally wanted to immediately go forward and drag those few familiar actors away to ask them what was going on, but upon seeing this situation, she could only continue to wait a little while longer before doing anything.
Jiang Wuhen presented his medicinal pill as a kind of elixir that was able to cure anything. Be it injured muscles, dislodged bones, internal injuries, cold gloom, poisons, barrenness and all kinds of intractable diseases, everything could be gotten rid of with just a pop of this medicinal pill.
Since only cash payments were accepted for the medicinal pills, not long after selling them, Jiang Wuhen’s arms were full of silver. Yet, his surroundings were still so packed that even water couldn’t flow through.
“Big brother, that’s about it. We should leave now,” said Li Shaoqiu in a low voice as he secretly tugged at Jiang Wuhen’s sleeve and gave him a few hinting looks.
“What are you so anxious about? A medical practitioner has the heart of a parent. If I don’t sell all these pills and save these people from the depths of water and burning fires, how can I live with my own conscience?” said Jiang Wuhen as he grabbed a large fistful of silver and gold notes and added it to the pile in his arms, smiling so widely that his mouth looked as though it almost splitting right up to his ears. Where were the airs and style of an expert godly doctor now?
Cheating his way along this dog-eat-dog world, oh no, even walking through it for so many years, when had Jiang Wuhen ever seen such a resounding success as he did today?! How could he be willing to so easily stop just like that?
What was all this talk about medical practitioners having the heart of parents and saving these townsfolk from deep waters and burning fires, and having a conscience?! Was there anyone more shameless than this fellow on earth? Ling Chuxi’s ears perked up upon hearing Jiang Wuhen’s words and a shiver of disgust ran through her whole body. She really wanted to drag him out and beat him up badly.
“Eh? Isn’t that the cheat who swindled us of our money the last time?” rang out an inharmonious voice suddenly from beyond the crowd just as Ling Chuxi thought that Jiang Wuhen would be able to wrap up his whole cheating scheme nicely this time and break the precedence of his misfortune.
“It can’t be, right? Isn’t that a travelling doctor? Did you recognize the wrong person?” replied another voice doubtfully.
“Absolutely not. I’ve got the right guy. Look at those thieving eyebrows of his, how could it not be him?” asked the first voice.
“However, I remember that the words on the banner back then was different. Wasn’t it something like ‘Number One Divine Teller In The World’?”
“Are you an idiot? He could just have changed the banner.”
As they spoke, these few men who were armed with swords and blades and who had been cheated by Jiang Wuhen in the past had already started to force their way through the crowd to quickly approach Jiang Wuhen.
“The Small Return Pill is for external injuries and bone injuries and it costs fifty taels of fine silver for one. As for those with internal injuries and meridian injuries, the Big Return Pill is what you’re looking for and it costs eight taels of fine silver for one. For poisonous bug bites, there is the Golden Life Pill which costs a hundred fine taels for one. For intractable disease and infertility, there is the Yin Yang Pill for two hundred fine taels for one. Take one to see to see good effects, two to cure your ailment from the root cause of it. There will definitely be no discounts, and we don’t accept credit!” announced Jiang Wuhen, so happy that flowers were practically blooming on his face. When he saw the few dark figures standing in a straight formation before him, before even taking a clear look at who they were, he started peddling his wares loudly instead,
“Godly doctor Jiang, or is it, divine teller Jiang, do you still remember us?” asked one of the burly man as he smiled maliciously.
When he heard this, only then did Jiang Wuhen raise his head to look at them properly. Then, his expression changed, and he began to lament bitterly in his heart. True enemies meeting on a narrow road. How did he manage to meet this fiend even here?
“Perhaps you have gotten the wrong person?” Jiang Wuhen forced himself to ask calmly, but a fine line of sweat started to ooze out from the top of his forehead.
“Did we get the wrong person? We might have, but this big blade of mine would never get it wrong,” said the burly man as he proceeded to swing the blade of his weapon onto the table that could seat eight, scaring Jiang Wuhen till his entire body trembled and his legs started shaking.
“What do you all want?” Jiang Wuhen asked cowardly as he looked around, preparing to split and run away. However, the crowd was so closely packed that there wasn’t even a small gap that could remotely accommodate a human escapee to be found.
“What do we want? If you don’t return our money by today, I will break your bones,” growled another burly man as he swung his axe before Jiang Wuhen.
“They’re robbing me! Help me!” Jiang Wuhen was stunned but then soon suddenly started to wail loudly. He almost shattered Ling Chuxi’s eardrums.
