Chapter 107 - Victory!
Chapter 107: Victory!
Xia Zhuoyi steadily kept his eyes on the duel without uttering a word.
With a few quick pierces of her sword, Ling Chuxi finally managed to make the Battle Wolf retreat. Although her exchange of blows with the Battle Wolf was brief, Ling Chuxi alone was the most aware of the danger they contained. If she had wielded her sword just a little slower or if her Battle Qi was just a tad weaker, she would have already lost at this moment. Ling Chuxi narrowed her eyes at the mark the whip left on the ground. If her steps had been just a second slower, would that whip have lashed her face instead of the ground? It seems as though Lan Xinyu had decided to go all out to win this time.
A Level 3 monster beast was indeed out of the ordinary. If one could coordinate well with it, that alone would be enough to increase a person’s battling power by a few tiers.
Lan Xinyu bit her lip slightly while looking at Ling Chuxi. ‘Huh. She actually managed to dodge the attack.’ However, she knew that with her own cultivation skills and the help of her Level 3 Battle Wolf, there would be no one within the same cultivation level who was her match. The next time she struck, Ling Chuxi would not be so lucky. This duel must be won by her! Because she could not afford to lose!
A tremor ran through Lan Xinyu’s golden whip, the sound of its lashings ringing out as crisply as a silver bell. The golden whip emitted a thick, dazzling light. The Battle Wolf lowered its body slightly and twisted its mouth into a growl as it broke into a run around Ling Chuxi. The speed of the Battle Wolf’s momentum turned the sight of it into an afterimage. Although the Battle Wolf didn’t directly attack Ling Chuxi this time, it brought about a feeling of danger due to its unpredictable actions.
Although Ling Chuxi knew Lan Xinyu would use her strongest attack this time, there wasn’t the least bit of fear in her heart.
Ling Chuxi pointed the Luo Chen Sword towards the sky to majestically release her Thundercloud Battle Qi. Right then, the surrounding air seemed to have frozen.
Without knowing whether or not it was a misconception, some people saw the sword in Ling Chuxi’s hand emit a flash of blue light. But upon leaning forward for a closer look, the blue light appeared to no longer be there. Therefore, everyone thought it was merely their misconception.
The Battle Wolf’s long howl resounded hauntingly throughout the venue. Suddenly, it pounced from behind Ling Chuxi and at the same time the golden whip lashed forth again in another attack. White light ripped through the air, creating an air vacuum that was invisible to the naked eye.
Yet, Ling Chuxi stood majestically still without moving an inch. A chilling light flashed across her eyes. She felt the bloodlust emanating from the Blood Wolf behind her and she let the image of the whip inching closer to her appear in her mind’s eye infinitely.
“Be careful!” gasped the enrapt audience from around the stage.
Right then, Ling Chuxi’s sword also moved through the air, drawing out an even more dazzling light.
All of a sudden, the sound of a sad whimper filled the venue. The tall, big and strong body of the Battle Wolf crashed to the ground from above as though it had been hit out of the sky by a humongous rock. The Battle Wolf curled up into a ball. It whimpered continuously and struggled to get back up. After the Battle Wolf had tried to get back up diligently a few times and failed, it finally lay on the ground helplessly.
Lan Xinyu stood rooted to the spot. There was a trace of blood leaking out of her tightly clenched fist. Her golden whip had long been tossed offstage. Lan Xinyu’s face was a terrible hue of white and her eyes brimmed with fear and disbelief. The Luo Chen Sword rested gently against her throat, radiating a chilling and murderous intent that was felt straight through to her heart.
The whole venue had fallen silent. Everyone watching was stunned.
Lost. Lan Xinyu had actually lost. Even though she had a Level 3 Battle Wolf aiding her, she had actually lost. And she had lost in such a simple and direct manner too.
The gleam of light had been too dazzling for many in the audience to have clearly perceived Ling Chuxi’s movements. But, just looking at the results of her actions, they could only imagine how fast and how strong the wield of her sword was. Not only did she manage to severely injure a Level 3 Battle Wolf with single blow, she had even mightily cut down Lan Xinyu’s golden whip. From this alone, one could also tell how strong Ling Chuxi’s grasp of battle opportunity was.
